Giving or Giving-Up?
We often hear girls say “I can’t have a baby right now.” As we probe a little further and ask why, the answers are often the same.
- I just started school.
- My parents will kill me.
- I don’t want to be with the father of the baby.
- I don’t have a place to live.
- What if I loose my job?
- I’ll never be able to finish school and get a real job.
- I’m only in high school
- It was only a one night thing, I don’t want to lose my husband/boyfriend.
Every one of these concerns are valid and life altering, there’s no denying it. Deciding to have a baby can feel like you are losing everything or might be at risk of losing your hopes and the dreams you have for your future. We are not here to convince you of your options or your choices, but we are here to say that we have seen many other girls walking the same path you are on right now.
At first glance having a baby looks like you are giving up your plans and your dreams. But maybe they are just being put on hold so you can accomplish another purpose. Having a baby is not about giving up, it’s about giving. Giving life. Giving hope. Giving love. Becoming a mom alters your path and changes your life, but many girls would say, “It was the best decision I ever made”.
