Dani decided to become a single mom at age 35.  It wasn’t planned or something she tried to make happen, but after 20 years of not getting pregnant, she was convinced she was one of those women who couldn’t conceive.

Who knows why it worked this time, but now Dani was sitting at the Pregnancy Resource Center waiting for her name to be called. Deep down inside she always wanted to be a mom, but she barely knew this guy and she had no idea if he even wanted kids, let alone wanted to be in a relationship with her. There were so many unknowns and so much to think about.

Dani had taken 4 home pregnancy tests and knew she was pregnant, but just wanted to be sure. While waiting for the nurse to give her the test results she was able to express her fears and ask her consultant, Anne, every question she could think of.

  • How could this happen?
  • What am I going to do?
  • What if he doesn’t want the baby?
  • What if I don’t want this baby?
  • How will I afford this?
  • What if I loose my job?
  • Where will I live?
  • I’m 35! Am I too old to have a baby?

Anne and Dani talked, cried and finally came to the conclusion that all of these concerns were real and true, but nothing overshadowed the feeling in Dani’s heart that she wanted to be a mom.  She knew at this point that she had already  made the choice to keep her baby, but was unable to figure out in her mind how to make it happen.  The test came back positive and Dani left feeling listened to, loved and equipped to move forward.  She had lots of hard conversations in her future and many big decisions, but her biggest decision was made.

She made the choice to become a mom.
