Immediately after an abortion a woman may feel relieved that it is over and she would not have to think of it again. She may have had other feelings that surface later, which were suppressed when she made her decision to abort. If her feelings were not acknowledged and released, they may be continually re-lived allowing the experience of the abortion to block any chance of healing. Or she may have blocked out the entire event and never acknowledged any feelings of sadness, anger or loss.

WHAT IS A RECOVERY GROUP?

A recovery group is a small group led by women who are not only trained, but have a heart to identify post abortive grief and assist you as you work through the process of healing. They will assist you in identifying feelings surrounding your abortion, grieving the loss of your child or children, accepting God’s forgiveness for yourself and coming to terms with the loss. The groups use a Bible study designed to work through post abortion issues.

MANY WOMEN DON’T EVEN REALIZE THEY NEED HEALING.

Many women don’t even realize they need to be healed but are struggling with issues in their lives that have been associated with abortions: depression, anger, relationship bonding issues with children and spouses, unforgiveness, sadness, bitterness are just some. There is hope, love and forgiveness just waiting for them. You may even be one of them!

The shocking truth is that 43% of women will have had an abortion by age 45, so that means that 1 in 5 women in any given group have experienced abortion personally! Why don’t we know about this? Because no one talks about it! Recovery groups give women an opportunity to speak about their abortion experience with other women who understand. A sense of community is developed and after completing the 8 week class, many women continue to meet in our Reunion Groups 3-4 times a year, bringing them out of isolation and giving them more freedom to talk and encourage other women. Women come into recovery groups in various stages of healing, but we always see them leave with a new spring in their steps.
